Benitatxell enables a free shuttle bus to go down to Moraig Cove

  • It will make trips from the Moraig parking lot to the beach every 15 or 20 minutes, and four times a day it will transport bathers from the old town to the cove, and vice versa.
  • This year no prior reservation will be necessary: there will be access control and the entrance will be closed once the capacity is complete.

Since last summer, Moraig Cove has been a natural, car-free beach. After the Gloria storm and in order to preserve its surroundings, in 2020 Costas carried out a renaturalization action for the cove, and since then vehicles have been banned from entering.

Last summer, with the little margin for action caused by Covid-19, bathers walked down from the parking lot to the bathing area. But this year, to facilitate access and provide a better service, the City Council has set up a free shuttle bus that will take bathers back and forth from the parking lot to the cove every 15 or 20 minutes.

And not only that. The bus will also make trips four times a day from the old town to the beach, and vice versa. This seeks to decongest the coastal area from vehicles and promote the urban center of the town.

Schedules

The shuttle bus will begin operating this Saturday, July 3. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the first departure will be from the parking lot next to the Municipal Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., and will return from the cove to the urban center at 2:00 p.m. In the afternoon it will leave again at 4:00 p.m. from the cemetery and will return to the last bathers from the beach at 6:30 p.m. On weekdays, the schedule will be the same except for the first departure, which will take place at 10:00 a.m. instead of 9:30 a.m.

Access control without prior reservation

Given that this year the capacity has been increased and the impact of cars is expected to be minimized with the shuttle bus service, prior reservation will not be necessary, as was done last summer with the AparcarE App. This summer, during the months of July and August and the first half of September, there will be access control next to the parking lot and once capacity is reached, the entrance will be closed until bathers leave.
