Improvements to the Benitatxell sewer network continue, with a planned investment of almost 100,000 euros in 2023

  • The installation of an irrigation system is planned to reuse the treated water from the Los Molinos urbanization

Throughout the first quarter, improvements will be made to the municipal sewage system, specifically in two wastewater pumping stations: the one on Benitatxells Street, in the urban center, and the one in the Los Molinos urbanization. These actions, valued at 15,627.93 euros, are subsidized to 80% by the Water Cycle of the Alicante Provincial Council.

With them, the electromechanical part of the pumping station on Benitatxells Street will be completely renewed and the motor pump set at the Los Molinos station will be changed for a new one, more efficient and better adjusted to its operation, which will allow significant energy savings. In addition, they will incorporate a remote remote control system that will provide online notifications in the event of breakdowns or failures at the station, to minimize inconvenience to the service and be faster in their solution.

The action will be complemented with the acquisition of a new multipurpose motor pump set that can be used in any of the three largest stations in the system: those located on Benitatxells Street, the Los Molinos Urbanization and Carretera de Moraira.

Irrigation system to reuse water

On the other hand, an irrigation system will be installed to reuse the treated water from the Los Molinos urbanization, which will allow the irrigation of the garden area of the urbanization. It must be remembered that this action has the relevant authorization from the Xúquer Hydrographic Confederation and will allow a significant qualitative improvement of the vegetation in the area.

The actions described will be followed by a significant investment of 82,578.64 euros to execute a new sewer network in the La Font area. The objective is for the neighborhood and the businesses located at the entrance to the town from Xàbia (CV-740) to finally have sewer service.

As the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, has stressed on other occasions, “the sewage network has been greatly forgotten. For many years, there has been no concern about maintaining and improving it.” For this reason, he pointed out, “we have gotten to work on this issue before the consequences become worse. "We are doing background work to understand and evaluate all the network infrastructures, detect the needs and act to maintain them and prevent them from deteriorating."
